Our Shared Earth is proud to announce its official relaunch during Plastic Free July.
Taking better care of this planet is kinda a thing with us. We’ve always tried to do our part on our own. We recycle, use non-toxic, natural skin care and cleaning products, and continue to build out solar as our power source. We also found Bamboo years ago, which is not only attractive in our home, but soft as a baby’s bottom on our body.
Ironically, Plastic Free July was founded the same year Our Shared Earth was founded – 2011. Today, we have far more options available to us to focus on making not just a change one short month, but a lifelong switch to a more sustainable future for all of us.
For example, over the years we discovered Wheat Straw Plastic. It truly made us gasp with excitement. An eco-friendly, non-toxic, biodegradable solution to all this plastic we’ve been polluting our planet with. It’s an ideal material to make all kinds of every day products.
To start, these new options such as plates, cutlery, cups, food containers, and straws are a great replacement for single use products. First and foremost, here’s no need to dig up our recourses or destroy forests. These products also decompose naturally, and only take 3 to 6 months to fully replenish back to our earth. (As opposed to normal plastic which takes anywhere from 20 to 1000 years.)
In addition, since these products are completely natural, when decomposed, it’s a great resource for fertilizer. BONUS!
One of the biggest culprits, and most devastating effects on our planet today are single use straws. A popular solution and widely adopted option are stainless steel or silicon straws. Which is not exactly a “single use” for anyone.
Up pops Wheat Straw Straws. And that’s not a typo, it’s actually a thing.
Can you imagine? Single use straws that can be tossed away without any negative impact? That’s how far both the industry and Our Shared Earth has come in this short amount of time.
A Plastic Free July is easier than ever this month. All it really takes is a commitment to look at other options and make better choices. Our Shared Earth is proud to be one of those choices this month to help you commit to a Plastic Free July.
